Edit expectations

Expectations are the most important content in a framework. They explain what someone should demonstrate at each level.

Open expectation editing

Open the competency you want to work on, then choose Edit expectations.

The editor shows one card per job level so you can focus on the progression across levels.

  1. 1. Open the framework.
  2. 2. Go to the Edit tab.
  3. 3. Open a competency.
  4. 4. Choose Edit expectations.
  5. 5. Update the job-level cards.
  6. 6. Save changes.

Write level-specific expectations

Each expectation should describe observable work for that job level.

Avoid repeating the same wording at every level. Show how scope, independence, judgment, or impact changes.

Add questions

Questions help managers and team members discuss an expectation in practice.

Add separate questions where they make the expectation easier to understand or apply.

Save or discard changes

Saving updates the competency draft. Closing with unsaved changes asks you to confirm before discarding work.
