Create a framework
Creating a framework sets up the job family and gives authors a starting structure to refine.
Choose a creation method
Start blank when you want full control from the beginning.
Copy an existing framework when another job family is a strong starting point.
Use AI-assisted creation when you have source material and want SkillsMap to draft a starting structure.
Global library creation is a future path for starting from shared templates when available.
- 1. Open Builders.
- 2. Go to Job Families.
- 3. Choose Create framework.
- 4. Select the creation method.
Enter framework details
Add the name, description, department, and job levels. These details help readers understand what the framework covers.
Job levels can be adjusted before the framework is created. Defaults come from Builder Settings.
Review categories
The category review step lets you confirm the first structure before creating the framework.
For AI-assisted creation, review the suggested categories carefully and edit anything that does not match your organization.
Create the framework
After creation, SkillsMap opens the framework so you can continue editing details, categories, competencies, and expectations.
The framework remains a draft until you publish it.
